Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari Conducts International Scholarship Interviews for the 2026 International Student Intake
Kendari, July 22, 2026 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari (UM Kendari), through its Directorate of Cooperation and Internationalization Affairs, continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts by conducting the final interview stage for prospective international students applying for the 2026 International Student Scholarship Program.
The scholarship application officially opened on May 7, 2026, offering two scholarship schemes: Fully Funded Scholarship and Partial Scholarship. The program received an overwhelming response from prospective students worldwide, attracting 820 applications from candidates representing various countries across Asia and Africa.
Following a comprehensive administrative screening process, 250 applicants successfully passed the document verification stage and advanced to the interview phase, which serves as the final selection process before admission decisions are made.
The interview process was conducted in three separate sessions. The first session, held on June 17, 2026, was dedicated to applicants for the Fully Funded Scholarship. The second session took place on July 21, 2026, for Partial Scholarship – Batch 1, while the third and final session was conducted on July 22, 2026, for Partial Scholarship – Batch 2 applicants.
A total of 68 shortlisted candidates have completed the online interview process with the university's selection committee. During the interviews, applicants were evaluated based on their communication skills, academic background, motivation to study at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari, readiness to adapt to academic and cultural life in Indonesia, and their commitment to contributing to an international learning environment.
According to the Director of Cooperation and Internationalization Affairs, the increasing number of international applicants reflects the growing global recognition of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari.
The selection committee is currently conducting a comprehensive evaluation of all interview results. Final decisions will be based on applicants' academic qualifications, interview performance, overall potential, and readiness to pursue higher education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari.
Official admission results will be announced individually via email. Successful applicants will officially join the 2026 International Student Cohort at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari and pursue their studies in various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the University.
